About the role
Senior Accountant:
This position is responsible for assisting the Finance Department in creating accurate and timely financial records for the organization. This includes month-end close activities, account reconciliations, financial reporting, assisting with financial analysis and other projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Engage in critical and confidential aspects of accounting and finance
- Ensure compliance with the financial procedures of the organization
- Prepare monthly journal entries
- Month end close process
- Perform various control reconciliations including bank, accounts receivable, accounts payable and inventory reconciliations
- Perform various balance sheet reconciliations including inter-company
- Fixed asset accounting
- IFRS Lease accounting
- Cross train and serve as back up for other accounting duties/leadership
- Assist in the budgeting and forecasting process under the guidance of the Accounting Manager
- Preparation of year end schedules to support corporate reporting and audit requirements
- Assist with compiling information for both internal and external audits throughout the year
- Preparation of various ad hoc financial reports and other projects as required
- Other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned
QUALIFICATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
- 5 years of accounting experience
- IFRS experience is preferred
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
- Proficiency with ERP systems such as D365 and AS400 is preferred
- Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Very strong working knowledge of Excel such as V Lookup, tables etc.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and work well under pressure
- Excellent time management and organization skills required, very high attention to detail
- Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and multi-task with minimal supervision
- Problem solving skills and the ability to take command and ownership of projects, driving them to timely, efficient, and accurate completion
- Ability to multitask on projects requiring broad skill sets, while maintaining high standards of work in a fast-paced environment, with competing priorities
- Thoroughness and ability to work collectively as part of a team
