About the position

Canada’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) system operates at a provincial level, with regulations and program requirements varying across jurisdictions. Successfully managing these distinctions while aligning with national objectives is key to program success.

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Senior Program Coordinator to join our Programs team! The Senior Program Coordinator plays a key role in advancing Product Care’s Ontario program by supporting the expansion of collection sites and onboarding new and existing partners and producers, while ensuring exceptional service delivery. This position blends strategic program coordination with a strong business development focus and requires a data-driven professional skilled in analyzing KPIs to inform program growth and decisions.

Responsibilities:
Business Development and Ongoing Partner Success

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, fostering collaboration and open communication.
  • Proactively identify, contact, and onboard new collection site partners, including retailers, not-for-profit organizations and other stakeholders, to increase program participation.
  • Proactively identify, contact, and support the onboarding of producer/member clients.
  • Create and deliver clear, data-informed presentations to educate onboard and retain new and existing partners.
  • Develop long-term relationships with existing program partners, helping them navigate a complex and dynamic extended producer responsibility (EPR) landscape.
  • Develop communications, updates, and notices to producer/members regarding program compliance and program performance.
  • Travel throughout Ontario to perform site visits and in-person meetings with partners.
  • Attending and representing Product Care at events, tradeshows and conferences to enhance partnerships.

Research and Data Analytics

  • Use Excel and other analysis tools to manipulate and interpret program data, create business cases, and support strategic decision making.
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and present recommendations to the Senior Program Manager.
  • Collaborate with the operations and logistics team to align data insights with service delivery improvements and partner support.
  • Collaborate across departments and regions to harmonize where needed and leverage best practices on program related matters.

Regulatory

  • Act as a subject matter expert on program regulatory compliance requirements for producer/member clients and collection partners.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on program eligible and non-eligible products and categories. Effectively communicate rationale to members as requested.
  • Assess the eligibility of program products under applicable regulations, develop and maintain a tracking system for product classification, collaborate with other departments and regions, and engage with regulators from time to obtain further clarification.

Program Reporting

  • Lead the development and implementation of environmental impact reporting of Ontario programs to partners.
  • Able to extract, organize and report data as requested by the Senior Program Manager.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual reports for internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory filings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you bring

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, experience, and qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in business administration, policy, regulatory affairs, environmental studies or equivalent experience. Master’s degree is advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in program coordination, business development, or stakeholder engagement, preferably in environmental or regulatory sectors.
  • A valid driver’s license is required. Ability to travel as required across Ontario.
  • Strong understanding of recycling program administration, extended producer responsibility, and stakeholder relations.
  • Advanced in MS Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced constantly evolving environment with a complex changing regulatory landscape.
  • Effective English communications skills, with the ability to listen, persuade and collaboratively give feedback.
  • Ability to understand and break down complex regulations for stakeholders.
  • Analytical thinking with very good problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Well-coordinated project management skills.
  • Takes initiative, strong work ethic, can execute and get things done.
