Director / Senior Associate – Financial and Regulatory Reporting
(1-Year Contract)
Location:
Toronto, ON (Hybrid – Full-time in-office for the first month, then 3 days/week in-office)
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Director or Senior Associate to join our Financial and Regulatory Reporting team on a 1-year fixed-term contract . This role is ideal for professionals with strong experience in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and broker-dealer environments.
You will play a key role in preparing and analyzing financial and regulatory reports for Canadian registered broker-dealers, ensuring compliance with local regulatory requirements and supporting internal and external audits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze risk-adjusted capital reports, including margin and regulatory capital deduction schedules, in accordance with Canadian regulatory rules (weekly and monthly).
- Support month-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (legal, compliance, tax, operations) to address ad hoc reporting and data requests.
- Assist with regulatory, statutory, and tax audits , ensuring timely and accurate responses.
- Maintain and update internal documentation and procedures to support audit readiness and process transparency.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 4 years of experience in public accounting and/or broker-dealer financial reporting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance , or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality .
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively under pressure in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Working knowledge of IFRS accounting standards .
Preferred Qualifications:
- Canadian CPA designation (or equivalent international designation).
- Experience with CIRO (Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization) reporting and/or reporting to recognized Canadian exchanges and associations.
