Job Summary

Come work as a Care/Activity Aide with Vancouver Coastal Health! Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Care/Activity Aide to join the Adult Daycare team at the Margaret Fulton Centre in North Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!

As a Care/Activity Aide at Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Be responsible for providing assistance to clients with personal care and carrying out established recreation programs.
  • Provide input to the development and evaluation of the therapeutic leisure and recreation program to meet specific client needs.
  • Implement and participate in established activities of the therapeutic leisure and recreation program.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Grade 12.
  • Graduation from a recognized Home Support Worker/Resident Care Aide program.
  • Successful completion of an Activity Assistant Program from a recognized college, one year recent experience working with a physically and/or mentally frail adult population including recent experience working as resident care aide/home support worker with personal care or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
  • Valid Class V Driver’s License.

  • Ability to work in a flexible and collaborative manner with the team.
  • Ability to demonstrate respect for the rights, confidentiality, dignity and self-esteem of those who are elderly, physically disabled or cognitively impaired.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to follow instructions and to work independently.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
