Saturn has an opportunity for a Senior Geologist based in the Calgary, Alberta office. Reporting to the Manager, Geology, the Senior Geologist will be a key contributor to a multi-disciplinary group of technical staff.
Specific duties, and responsibilities of the Senior Geologist include, but are not limited to:
- Detailed analysis of various geological data sets, including well logs, core, DST and geological mapping to develop oil and gas reservoirs
- Evaluate reservoir characteristics, such as porosity, permeability, and fluid saturation, to assess the commercial viability of existing and potential oil and gas accumulations
- Generate technically sound prospects by integrating geological, geophysical, and engineering data, characterizing both risk and productivity to prioritize development
- Collaborate with drilling operations and wellsite geologists to optimize and execute drilling programs, providing real-time geological support during drilling operations
- Prepare presentations to management and stakeholders, clearly communicating your recommendations, development plans, development results, and overall geological findings
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards relative to geological activities
- Collaborate and support the operations team to manage active abandonment programs
- Stay abreast of advancements in geological techniques, technologies, and industry trends through continuous learning, professional development, and participation in conferences and workshops
Candidates for this position will possess the following qualifications and competencies:
- At minimum, Bachelor of Science in Geology/Geosciences
- Professional Geoscientist or eligible to obtain membership with APEGA and/or APEGS
- Minimum 10 years of experience in exploration and development of carbonate and clastic reservoirs
- Experience in Southeast Saskatchewan would be considered an asset
- Working knowledge of digital workflows and geoscience applications such as geoScout or Accumap
- Experience with other geoscience applications would be considered an asset
- Ability to present technical information clearly, both verbally and in writing
