Maintenance Technician – Luxury Cottages (Muskoka)

Situated in the beautiful town of Huntsville, Ontario we work hard in one of Canada’s most beautiful and sought-after regions. HLD Muskoka is active in all areas of construction from design, excavation, high-end residential building to property maintenance and landscaping.

We are seeking an exceptional Maintenance Technician to join our team, responsible for the upkeep of high-end luxury cottages in the beautiful Muskoka region.
This is a unique opportunity for a true "jack of all trades" to ensure our beautiful properties remain in pristine condition, providing the best for our clients.
Responsibilities:
· General Maintenance & Repairs by performing a wide variety of maintenance tasks, including but not limited to: basic plumbing & electrical, carpentry (ie: repair and replace damaged decking, railings, and stairs; perform minor framing work; interior finish repairs), painting (interior & exterior touch-up).
- Conduct routine maintenance, filter changes, and minor troubleshooting for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
- Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on household appliances (e.g., refrigerators, ovens, dishwashers, laundry machines).
- Manage and maintain well systems, water filtration, and septic systems (basic understanding and minor troubleshooting).
- Assist with seasonal property preparation, light landscaping, power washing, dock maintenance, and general upkeep of outdoor structures.
- Preventative maintenance by adhering to a proactive maintenance schedule to identify and address potential issues before they become problems.
- Maintain an organized inventory of tools, equipment, and common replacement parts.
- Be available for on-call emergencies as needed, demonstrating quick problem-solving skills under pressure.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and service history.
- Interact professionally and courteously with property owners and guests, ensuring minimal disruption and clear communication.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Demonstrated proficiency across multiple trades (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, general repairs) gained through hands-on experience.
- Minimum 5 years experience in property maintenance, residential construction, or a related field.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with a practical, hands-on approach.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, prioritizing tasks effectively.
- Proactive and resourceful through anticipating needs and take initiative.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Professional demeanor and a high level of discretion, respecting the privacy of property owners.
- Valid G Driver's License.
- Familiarity with smart home technologies and advanced cottage systems is a plus.
- Relevant certifications or licenses in any trade are an asset but not required
