About The Role Mount Royal alumni are key stakeholders in its ongoing success, growth, and profile. The role of the Programs Specialist, Digital Engagement is to meaningfully advance the university’s engagement with its alumni through the design and delivery of an alumni podcast. This role will lead podcast development and delivery and must have experience and skill in all stages of podcast development, specifically podcasting hosting, recording and marketing. To be successful in this role, the Programs Specialist, Digital Engagement must be a skilled conversationalist, relationship builder, digital communicator and a curious storyteller. Experience working with a complex organization would be an asset. A demonstrated track record of success in digital content creation and podcasting, and working with organizational leaders and subject matter experts to create this content will be key for success in this role.
The incumbent will work closely with the Alumni Relations leadership team to develop the podcasting content strategy, and lead its implementation. Reporting to the Director, Alumni Relations and working closely with the Manager, Alumni Programs & Services, the incumbent will be a key member of the alumni team and an important contributor to alumni engagement and programing goals.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, design and implementation of an alumni podcast that contributes to pride, affinity and further connection to Mount Royal, is aligned to the interests, needs and curiosities of MRU alumni, and elevates alumni voices and experiences.
- Research topics and stay up-to-date with current trends to ensure the podcast is relevant, engaging, and meetings its goals.
- Produce and host the podcast, effectively collaborating with a co-host and alumni guests.
- Project manage all aspects of the podcast, working with external suppliers as necessary.
- Follow a workflow process and maintain detailed, accessible and accurate documentation.
- Act as a key contact with select campus and/or community partners for purposes of the podcast and its success.
- Maintain a high degree of knowledge and understanding of the MRU alumni community, seeking opportunities to connect them to the podcast and other alumni programming and content.
- Collaborate with colleagues on philanthropic initiatives involving alumni as current or prospective donors, strategically and appropriately positioning philanthropy and alumni engagement.
- Identify, recruit and steward alumni, university and community experts for the podcast.
- Consistently integrate voices who represent a broad and diverse range of thought, experience and perspectives.
Qualifications
- Three or Four Year Bachelor Degree or Equivalent
- Strategic thinking, good judgment, strong communication skills.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding and knowledge of online engagement platforms well as on-site and in-person programs and event logistics.
- A creative and collaborative digital engagement professional and content creator with experience in digital communication, specifically podcasting and digital content creation. Strategic and technical skills needed to create and deliver a successful podcast.
- Experience in project management, marketing communications, journalism, social media, and SEO preferred.
- Working with and stewarding volunteers and subject-matter-experts preferred.
Salary: $65,500.00 - $82,916.00 per annum
