Job Details:
Position Title: Assistant Curator
Status: Temporary Part-time
Hours: Upto 24 hours per week
Faculty/Department: Humber and University of Guelph-Humber Library, Lakeshore Grounds Interpretive Centre and Humber Archives
Campus/Location: Lakeshore Campus (Occasional evenings and weekends; This is a blended position, with one day remote work per week)
Duration: August 18, 2025 – May 15, 2026
Salary: PT Support Payband 8 (Start $24.99)

About the Assistant Curator Role:

The Assistant Curator is a creative and detail-oriented team member supporting the curatorial, collections, and programming work of the Lakeshore Grounds Interpretive Centre and Humber Archives.

Reporting to the Academic Manager, Archives and LGIC, the successful candidate will:

  • Assist with the research, development, and installation of exhibitions, including the planning and activation of related programming and events.
  • Support collections management activities, including documentation, care, and interpretation of artifacts and archival materials.
  • Contribute to the development of the 2026 exhibition roster through research and collaborative planning.
  • Create and manage digital content for web and social media platforms, including writing, editing, and design.
  • Participate in team meetings and project coordination.
  • Support communications, publications, and administrative tasks as assigned.

Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in arts, history, museums, or a related discipline.

Experience/Skills

  • Minimum of one-year related experience in a museum, heritage, or creative setting, including internships, coursework, and volunteer work.
  • Familiarity with collections management, exhibition development, or digital communications is an asset.
