About the role

Job Description The Supplier Quality Specialist/ Engineer will drive the effective closure of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and manage Corrective Action Requests (CARs). The Supplier Quality Specialist/ Engineer will play a critical role in identifying and addressing quality issues, containment to mitigate impact, investigate and analyze root causes, develop and implement effective corrective actions, and driving continuous improvement in supplier quality performance. The Supplier Quality Specialist/ Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive supplier quality initiatives, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The role will include coaching stakeholders to support containment and corrective actions, standardizing processes to improve efficiency, and representing ISI in a professional manner in supplier discussions.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the resolution of Non-Conformances by containing problems at the earliest opportunity, communicating with Key Stakeholders, facilitate mitigation plans and completing actions and verification of non-conformances.
  • Conducting root cause analysis and create prevention plans on supplier non-conformances and corrective actions raised by the business.
  • Project management of open NCR’s to ensure that projects are being appropriately executed, tracked and implemented ahead of production schedule.
  • Organize the presentation of data to reflect results (e.g., trends and correlations) in a visually compelling way to address critical business questions.
  • Analyze metrics and create and execute Continuous Improvement projects for the Supplier Quality Group.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng.) or equivalent preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) or equivalent preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, AS 9100 or equivalent Quality Management Systems.
  • Data management and visual presentation experience.
  • 5+ years of technical experience in manufacturing or construction.
  • Experience with QMS software is an asset.
  • Strong sense of urgency to complete tasks.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
