Information Communication Technology Engineer
Location: Toronto | Hybrid (3 days on-site)
Our client, a leading Toronto-based engineering consulting firm, delivers innovative and integrated building systems solutions across new construction and renovation projects.
They are growing their IT/Communications Engineering Division and seeking a talented IT/Communications Engineer to join the team. You'll help design future-ready, resilient IT/Communications systems for some of the region’s most exciting building projects.
About the Role:
You will work closely with the VP of IT/Communications and a multi-disciplinary team of experts. Expect variety — you’ll engage on everything from site surveys and conceptual design through to detailed engineering, project coordination, and construction support.

What You’ll Do:
- Conduct site surveys and condition assessments
- Develop technology evaluation reports and recommend equipment
- Lead conceptual & detailed IT/Communications system design
- Coordinate with architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical teams
- Produce tender drawings & technical specifications
- Support project management and liaise with contractors
- Participate in construction administration — RFIs, submittal reviews, site meetings
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience designing IT networks, structured cabling, and IT infrastructure for buildings
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field — or equivalent experience
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and REVIT
- Familiarity with TIA/EIA, BICSI, IEEE standards
- Experience conducting site assessments and writing reports
- Knowledge of LAN/WAN, wireless systems, data centres
- Understanding of consulting engineering workflows and project coordination
- Construction phase support experience (RFIs, submittal reviews, site meetings)
- RCDD certification (or interest in pursuing)
- P.Eng designation (or eligibility) is a plus
- Exposure to Smart Building, IoT, AV systems, building automation
- Strong communicator with excellent technical writing skills
- Collaborative mindset with ability to manage priorities in fast-paced project environments
