About the role

Job Overview
The Berczy Tavern, Owned and Operated by Executive Chef Michael Angeloni is looking to hire an experienced line cook/prep cook to aid in the running of our lunch program. Experience with brunch/lunch service in a medium-large sized restaurant is a huge benefit. Teamwork and passion are our number one priorities, we can teach everything else.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, chopping, and measuring food items.
  • Work lunch service, including poaching eggs, cooking risotto, and making sauces
  • Report to the day manager to help ensure a seamless transition to night service
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including workstations and equipment.
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure the highest quality of food handling.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours.
  • Help with inventory management by monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages.

Qualifications

  • Good team kitchen culture is an absolute must. Chef de Cuisine Jonah Mills is building a team that needs to mesh and teamwork is the #1 priority
  • Previous experience in food preparation or cooking in a restaurant environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food handling.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively in a busy kitchen setting.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • A passion for cooking and a desire to learn and grow within the culinary field.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $17.00-$21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 44 per week
