Position Details The Manager, Commercial Lines QC will implement the division’s underwriting strategy in conjunction with the Vice President, Commercial Lines, for the achievement of regional performance goals, leading business development, underwriting activities and leading a team of professional staff. They also play a key role in the development and implementation and monitoring of portfolios and maintaining underwriting capabilities in Commercial Lines.

  • Develop and improve upon underwriting processes and procedures
  • Driving consistent underwriting best practices and guidelines across region and segment
  • Reviewing portfolio analysis and providing leadership on decision making
  • Participates in rate review process and coordinates rate reviews and changes with leadership
  • Reviewing new and renewal underwriting referrals and providing timely approval or modifications
  • Ensuring that compliance, legal and audit related queries are addressed to in a timely manner
  • Oversees the management of relationships with Brokers and ensures service excellence in Broker interaction
  • Acts as a point of escalation for Broker inquires and concerns, and for evaluation and approval of risks
  • Develop and implement broker training, seminar and workshops
  • Provide product development recommendations to the Vice President, Commercial Lines to ensure product integrity and the development of new products and/or enhancements of current products
  • Manage the implementation of new products, features and other strategic initiatives, including the development and management of business requirements based on business strategic vision and goals

Your Profile

  • Minimum 10 years of commercial property and casualty underwriting, product management and business development experience.
  • Intermediate-level English proficiency is required in addition to French, as this position involves communicating—both orally and in writing—with our clients, partners, and other Echelon Insurance Canada teams located across the country.
  • Experience managing people leaders preferred
  • University Degree Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting or similar
  • CIP or FCIP designation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven record to work effectively in a team environment, and resolution and get the consensus and consultative approach Motivated, enthusiastic and self-directed.
  • Initiative, sense of urgency, accountability and results-oriented.
