About the role

Job Summary

The Electrical Reliability Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing reliability strategies to ensure the optimal performance and longevity of electrical equipment in our pulp and paper manufacturing facility. This role involves analyzing equipment performance, identifying potential issues, and implementing proactive maintenance measures to prevent downtime and enhance operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage asset maintenance plans based on rigorous testing and data analysis.
  • Identify potential hazards and electrical system failures using statistical data and predictive maintenance techniques (Vibration Analysis, Electric Motor Testing PDMA MCE motor testing, Ultrasonic high voltage testing).
  • Monitor and oversee repair work in collaboration with maintenance engineers and other personnel.
  • Conduct regular electrical system and component analysis to assess efficiency, safety, condition, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Perform root cause analysis of electrical equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve electrical system reliability and performance.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to maintenance and operations teams.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and reliability metrics (PM data, Maintenance KPI’s).
  • Stay updated with industry best practices and emerging technologies in reliability engineering.
  • Assist the equipment/process troubleshooting effort.
  • Work with operations and maintenance leaders to support/troubleshoot the maintenance systems in their area.
  • Improve maintenance techniques, activities, and practices through use of reliability tools (i.e., RCM, FMEA, RCPE, etc.).
  • Assist with implementation of both capital and maintenance improvement projects.
  • Provide information and training to help build technical skills in the workforce.
  • Monitor and analyze all emergency work orders in the area.
  • Lead the RCPE process.
  • Manage electrical integrity and inspection programs.
  • Assist with MCC or power distribution integrity activities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in reliability engineering, preferably in the pulp and paper industry.
  • Proficiency in predictive maintenance techniques and tools (Vibration Analysis (level 1 certified preferred), ultrasonic testing, PDMA MCE motor testing).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using maintenance management software and tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with electrical systems and practices.
  • Familiarity with root cause failure analysis (RCPE) and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM).
  • Certification in reliability engineering (e.g., Certified Reliability Engineer - CRE).
  • Functional use of Microsoft Office and maintenance systems (CMMS SAP, Microsoft Project).
  • Highly organized and uses efficient work methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and continue to develop knowledge and skills.
