Under limited supervision, reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, will work with a high degree of initiative, discretion and self-direction in
performing complex pay and benefit administration to ensure accurate and timely remuneration and reporting. This is a term position
for a period of approximately 18 months.
Responsibilities:
- Preparation and computation of accurate hourly and salaried payroll, ensuring the orderly and timely payment of remuneration
to employees and the accurate application of deductions and benefits.
- Coordination of diverse elements of payroll such as; retroactive payments, deductions, taxable benefits, northern travel,
reserve earnings, garnishing orders, severance payments, maternity top-ups, and personnel and benefit data updates.
- Analysis of payroll output to ensure accuracy and compliance by reviewing and actioning applicable reports.
- Reconciliation of general ledger accounts related to pay and deductions.
- Preparation of retirement and severance payments, ensuring applicable tax is withheld, any tax-free payments are made to
the appropriate financial institutions and documentation completed for Superannuation Board.
- Provide assistance to employees on pay & benefit related queries.
- Review and application of Canada Customs and Revenue Agency Exemption at Source letters ensuring that applicable tax is
reduced.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 education with a Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certificate, an additional related Certificate, plus three years'
directly related experience specializing in payroll and benefit administration;
OR
- Grade 12 education with a Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certificate plus four years' directly related experience specializing
in payroll and benefit administration.
- Demonstrated PC skills with a working knowledge of SAP, Word and Excel.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Provincial and Federal Legislated payroll reporting requirements.
- Detailed working knowledge of Manitoba Hydro's accounting structure/functions, payroll processes, procedures, corporate
policies, government regulations and collective agreements.
- Proven interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at various
levels within the Corporation as well as with external agencies.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $29.27-$39.75 Hourly,
