Flower Shop Team Lead
Summary:
The Flower Shop Team Lead will support the Flower Shop Supervisor and Floral Designers in producing floral shop arrangements, creating displays, wedding shop consultations and training apprentices. This job will also include ordering materials, developing designs and displays, and maintaining a clean and positive environment.
Job Duties:
- Take and fulfill customers’ floral shop requests either in-person, over the phone or via the internet.
- Learn the techniques on how to develop original designs based on either customer requests or current design trends.
- Be able to reproduce an arrangement or bouquet using an in-store or photograph (image) model.
- Arrange bouquets as per customers’ requests.
- Clean fresh products as required to ensure that the product retains a longer shelf life and is marketable.
- Maintain a presentable, clean flower-shop environment; this includes changing the water and making fresh cuts in the product, cleaning the fridge area, sweeping, and cleaning the displays around the floral shop.
- Effectively manage expenses to drive profitability, while upholding quality standards and aligning with consumer expectations.
- Backup for ordering product; this includes ordering product when the Flower Shop Supervisor is not able to and communicating any product needs and/or concerns to that individual.
- Support and assist with the development of store designs and displays by applying current design trends and techniques.
- Conduct wedding consultations: this includes recommending products, providing design ideas and quickly responding to any customer concerns. In the beginning, the individual in this role will be mentored by the Flower Shop Supervisor before handling this duty on their own.
- Assist with the development of any wedding displays: this may involve on-site implementation.
- Create boutonnieres, corsages, and other related products.
- Provide recommendations/ideas to the Flower Shop Supervisor and Floral Designers to increase productivity or minimize costs.
- Continue with ongoing/at-home training: this may involve reading literature, developing arrangements at home, or taking additional courses.
- Attend departmental meetings as scheduled.
- Delegate tasks to other team members when the Flower Shop Supervisor is away.
- Ensure products in your area meet quality standards; product is clean, is in accordance to trends and matches the customer’s needs and/or requests.
- Complete paperwork as required: this may include preparing seminar material, resolving invoices, photocopying, filing etc.
- Ensure that all activities are being conducted with customer service and quality products as the primary goal.
- Fill in role of Flower Shop Supervisor when they are on vacation.
- Mentor, coach and inspire team members to perform their best while maintaining company standards.
Requirements:

- Minimum of 2 years experience in flower shop design and/or demonstration of strong ability to create marketable arrangements and/or displays.
- Experience leading a team is a definite asset.
- Available to work evenings, weekends and all major floral holidays including, Valentines Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
- Strong product knowledge of industry trends and staples.
- Easily builds and retains customers through providing a strong service level while responding to the needs and requests of customers.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Flower design diploma, certificate and/or related experience.
- Attention to detail.
