About the Position

The School of Culinary Arts at Lethbridge Polytechnic is seeking a highly motivated, self-directed full-time 8-month recurring term journeyman cook. Although a term position, employment opportunities are available after each term based on business requirements. The successful candidate will provide instructional assistance for faculty and guide students in culinary labs based on required curriculum.

Position Details

Instructional Assistants (IA) will work with faculty to guide students in the practical understanding of industry concepts such as stocks, sauces, seasonings, soups, appetizers, buffets and a la carte, cooking of savory and sweet dishes as well as deboning of meat, fish and poultry. Along with curriculum training, Instructional Assistants guide students in the preparation, execution and production of food products for sale in our Food Court, Garden Court and banquet services. This may occur at any time between Monday to Sunday each week.
Along with guiding students IA’s will be responsible for inventory, ordering, sanitation, costing, and menu management.
The Instructional assistant could be with Savory faculty or dining room faculty.

Required Qualifications

  • Red Seal endorsed Journeyman and 3 years in a supervisor role

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in banquet service

  • Experience in dining room line service

  • Basic computer skills

Salary

AUPE Class Level 9 Step 1 $27.42/hr
