Serving over 500 children annually, Pacekids offers innovative programs that support healthy development, maximize quality of life, and encourage full participation in the community.

We are looking for a passionate and skilled Certified Teacher to join our Early Childhood Services (ECS) team. If you are committed to collaboration, inclusion, and excellence in early education, we’d love to meet you!

Position Summary

The Certified Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering classroom programming for children ages 2½ to 6 years in both our Multidisciplinary and Speech & Language Enhancement Programs. You will lead a classroom team of 10–12 Classroom Therapy Assistants (CTAs) and work closely with therapists, families, and other educators to ensure each child’s Individual Program Plan (IPP) goals are met.

This position requires strong leadership, a deep understanding of early childhood development and special education, and a commitment to creating a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver daily lesson plans (circle time, crafts, play centres, etc.) aligned with Alberta Education curriculum.
  • Develop and update IPPs and guide your team to implement goals effectively.
  • Supervise and mentor CTAs, providing coaching, performance evaluations, and professional development.
  • Foster a positive classroom environment that supports children’s social, emotional, and academic growth.
  • Collaborate with therapists, families, and the interdisciplinary team to create strategies and solutions.
  • Prepare reports, track progress, maintain documentation, and participate in parent-teacher interviews.
  • Ensure compliance with Alberta Education, Accreditation, and Health & Safety standards.
  • Support transition planning for children moving into Grade 1.
  • Assist with self-help skills as needed (toileting/diapering).
  • Participate in planning meetings, case conferences, and field trip coordination.

Qualifications

  • Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate (or recognized equivalent from a Canadian provincial Department of Education).
  • Experience working with young children; experience with children with special needs is highly recommended.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Valid Alberta driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Standard First Aid & CPR Level C (or willingness to obtain shortly after hire).
  • Recent (within 6 months) Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector and Child Welfare Intervention Check.
