Position Details:
Job Title: Java Developer
Location: Remote
Duration: 6 months (possibility to extend to 2 years)
Job description:

Developers to start on current projects and then move to the federal claims system (FHCPS).

Strong Java backend focusses with exposure to front-end (even if not hands-on).
-
The system is mature, high-scale (millions of users), with a multi-tenant architecture and a lot of legacy to modern migration work.
Top Skill (Must-Haves):

Java 8 or higher (Java 17 preferred)
-
Spring Boot
-
Oracle (PL/SQL) - should be able to write queries and support API development
-
GitLab (version control), some Jenkins exposure
-
Kubernetes and Docker - need to run services locally, understand CI/CD flow
-
Ability to write REST APIs and understand MVC architecture
Nice to Haves:
-
Redis caching
-
Flyway (for Oracle Database management)
-
View 3 (JavaScript) - basic ability to read/debug front-end code
-
Kafka / Messaging Queues
-
GitHub Copilot / AI coding exposure

Shell scripting, Jira, Cherwell - easy to learn, not critical
Project Notes:

The Max platform is being modernized from WebSphere/Java Beans SOA to a Kubernetes microservices architecture.
-
Front-end is moving from IceFaces to Vue 3, but most work is back-end focused (around 65% backend, 35% front-end).
-
Devs should be able to understand end-to-end flows (from API to front-end) even if they don’t build front-end.
-
Codebase includes new development, maintenance, and support for large-scale clients (e.g., Blue Cross, 3M+ user records).

Product includes mobile apps, portals, and batch processing for claims.
Ideal Candidate Profile:

3-7 years Java experience preferred

Strong backend mindset with comfort navigating front-end code

Experience working in enterprise-scale systems

Able to hit the ground running and contribute within 4-8 weeks

Good critical thinking, fast learner, and strong communication
