Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable and caring Wheelchair Accessible Van Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with special transportation needs and will be committed to safety, punctuality, and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a wheelchair-accessible van to transport clients to and from appointments, events, or residences
- Assist passengers with boarding, securing wheelchairs, and disembarking
- Ensure all safety procedures are followed and mobility devices are properly secured
- Maintain a clean and organized vehicle at all times
- Maintain accurate trip logs and follow assigned schedules
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with clients, caregivers, and staff
- Report any incidents, vehicle issues, or concerns promptly
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Previous experience transporting passengers with disabilities preferred
- Knowledge of safe wheelchair tie-down and lift procedures (training provided if necessary)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Patience, empathy, and a strong sense of responsibility
Preferred Qualifications
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Transfers Lifts and Repositioning Certificate (TLR)
