The Role
Reporting into the manager, construction management office (CMO), within the technical services department at our corporate office, you will be responsible for all construction activities for assigned projects at Cigar Lake. You will work with the project managers to provide construction coordination, contractor management and adherence to technical specifications on multiple projects being executed concurrently at the site. Your communication skills are excellent and you will be the single point of contact between onsite field contractors and Cameco’s management groups. Portfolio size is large with diversity and complexity to the projects. As the construction manager you enjoy the fast pace of the role and find it rewarding to juggle priorities and deliver exceptional results.
In this role, you will:
- Be accountable for ensuring the construction scope is planned and successfully completed within schedule, budget, and scope as well as within safety, health, environment and quality standards.
- Be the primary contact on contractor issues, scope change requests, progress payments and change orders.
- As the prime contractor representative, you will ensure contractors are compliant with safety protocols, environmental regulations and quality standards.
- Build strong, effective relationships with contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders.
- Work closely with contractors and the project manager to ensure assets are delivered to operations on time and on budget.
- Lead a construction management team of trade superintendents, Safety/Health/Quality departments (SHEQ), coordinators and administration staff.
- Participate in contractor selection, bid evaluations, and early contract development.
- Lead with an uncompromising commitment to safety every day.
Required:

Degree or diploma in engineering or physical sciences or a journeyperson certificate

Eight to 15 years of work experience as a construction manager in an industrial setting

Experience managing multi discipline functions
-
Supervisor training and exceptional supervisory and leadership skills
-
First aid certified
-
Conflict resolution skills and ability to work and with a diverse group

Work a rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft (Monday – Thursday)

Preference will be given to Residents of Saskatchewan’s North (RSN).
The Cigar Lake operation is located in northern Saskatchewan and this role operates on a four in/three outrotational schedule. Employees commute to the site by aircraft from designated locations in Saskatchewan.
