The Opportunity The Finance Analyst supports Lavender’s day-to-day financial activities and is responsible for maintaining accurate and timely financial records across our Canadian and U.S. entities. While a professional accounting designation isn’t required, the Finance Analyst must be confident managing budgets, tracking expenses, and handling day-to-day financial tasks. This role reports to a founder, but ideally the Analyst will work largely independently and in collaboration with an external accounting partner.
What You’ll Be Doing
Accounts Payable & Expense Management
- Process vendor invoices, reimbursements, and recurring payments
- Track expenses across Canadian and U.S. entities
- Maintain documentation and audit trails for all transactions
- Monitor bank and credit card balances, flagging discrepancies
- Support internal AP workflows and budget tracking
Documentation & Record Keeping
- Keep our general ledger and accounting software tidy and up-to-date
- Maintain clear SOPs and documentation in Google Drive
- Support our leadership team with ad hoc financial reports
- Help organize internal folders so nothing ever gets lost
Compliance & Reconciliation
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and payment platform accounts monthly
- Coordinate with external accountants for month-end and tax filings
- Track and prepare tax payments (federal, state, and city)
- Ensure timely and accurate financial compliance in both Canada and the U.S.
What You Bring
- 3+ years of experience in a finance or accounting role
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in accounting, finance, or a related field—or equivalent experience
- Strong working knowledge of Google Sheets, QuickBooks Online, Ramp, Expensify, Slack, and Asana
- Comfort working across both Canadian and U.S. financial systems
- Excellent organizational skills, with keen attention to detail
- Someone who thrives in a remote-first team and is excited to build systems that scale
