About the role
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position will report to the Purchasing Manager. Must be dedicated to performing all aspects of the job safely. This position’s responsibilities can include developing and implementing cost reduction programs and negotiating agreements with suppliers. Applicant should be able to evaluate market conditions and trends and develop buying arrangements with suppliers. This position may also be responsible for securing various commodities such as chemicals and raw materials, maintenance and operating materials and the handling of contracts with outside contractors. Applicant will also be responsible for bidding out direct purchase orders and storeroom orders that are not governed by an agreement to ensure the mill secures items at the most competitive price. Support ISO requirements. Develop and maintain chemical, machine clothing, direct charge standard pricing for budgeting purpose.
QUALIFICATIONS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required and applicant should have experience, preferably in purchasing or a related field such as inventory management and planning and scheduling.
SKILLS:
Applicants should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to work with outside vendors and internal departments. Must have the ability to develop cost savings initiatives and support team to ensure savings initiatives are maximized. Applicant should have a strong working knowledge of inventory controls, computer applications, strong interpersonal skills, and decision-making skills. Product knowledge and product pricing strategies would be an asset. Applicants must have demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, be detail oriented and be a self-starter with a strong orientation for continuous improvements.
COMPETENCIES:
Applicant must be customer service oriented and have excellent skills in: oral and written communication, negotiation, information sharing, delegation, presentation, selling, advising, and counseling. SAP experience would be an added value. Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Powerpoint, Word. Must be able to work in a team environment.
