Position Summary
We’re looking for a part-time (3 days/week), contract General Accountant that will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, performing month-end and year-end closing procedures, managing accounts payable, and supporting financial reporting. A strong emphasis is placed on financial accuracy, timely reporting, and continuous improvement to support decision-making and operational efficiency at Northstar Access.
Key Responsibilities

Entering financial data into accounting software, such as invoices, receipts, and payments.

Perform month-end and year-end close procedures, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals.

Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

Maintaining accurate records of all financial transactions, including sales, purchases, and expenses.

Processing invoices, ensuring accurate payments, and managing accounts payable.
-
Enter timesheets on a weekly basis.
-
Maintaining capital asset, capital lease, prepaid, and accrued liabilities schedules.
-
Reconciling bank statements with the general ledger, ensuring accurate balances.
-
Identifying and resolving any discrepancies between bank statements and the general ledger.

Assist in preparing and filing sales tax returns.
-
Assisting with audit preparation and providing documentation to auditors.

Responding to audit queries and providing necessary information.

Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations. Through financial and business analysis drive better, faster decisions, EBITDA improvement, and increased customer satisfaction.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support finance-related initiatives and projects.

Contribute to process improvements and efficiency initiatives within the finance department.

Supporting monthly and yearly inventory counts.

General accounting duties.

Other ad-hoc analysis and office administration as required.

Other duties and projects as assigned.
What We’re Looking For?

5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
-
Highschool diploma, post secondary education in Accounting/Bookkeeping preferred
-
Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles
-
Experience with full cycle accounting
-
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas) and PowerPoint
-
Strong analytical skills
-
Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills
-
Ability to adapt to a changing environment and meet deadlines
-
Ability to analyze business process and maintain internal controls
-
Ability to work independently
-
Ability to communicate with team members up and down the organization

Strong attention to detail

Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism

Honest, humble, courteous, and able to demonstrate strong work ethics

Driven and ability to work with minimum supervision
