Corus Radio 640 Toronto is seeking a full-time Talk Show Content Producer / On-Air Contributor to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Manager of Talk and Talent, this role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced news environment, is passionate about current events, and is always ready to ask, “What’s our next guest or topic?”
You’ll be responsible for producing compelling, locally focused content across platforms, radio, digital, and social. The role requires flexibility, including availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
You will contribute by:
- Creating informative, community-driven, and entertaining talk show content.
- Leveraging social media to grow engagement and drive tune-in.
- Generating original story ideas and adapting them for on-air and digital platforms.
- Pitching topics, chasing and booking guests, and conducting pre-interviews.
- Producing daily video content for various digital platforms.
- Editing audio and other show elements to broadcast-ready quality.
- Preparing scripts, segment notes, and background material for hosts.
- Updating the station website and maintaining an active social media presence.
- Collaborating with hosts, fellow producers, and management on show direction.
- Participating in daily show meetings and planning sessions.
- Supporting live coverage and breaking news as it unfolds.
- Producing special shows or series when assigned.
- Liaising with the newsroom to ensure alignment on news priorities.
- Finding unique and creative ways to elevate storytelling and audience engagement.
- Building and maintaining a network of reliable news contacts.
- Staying plugged in to what’s happening locally, nationally, and beyond.
- Representing the station at community and promotional events.
- Providing on-air contributions when required.
- Following the highest standards of journalistic ethics.
- Performing other duties as needed.
Skills and experience you will bring:
- Post-secondary education in broadcast journalism or a related field.
- Prior experience in a similar role, especially as a chase or show producer on talk radio.
- A passion for current affairs and a deep interest in talk radio.
- Strong writing, research, and editorial judgment.
- A sharp instinct for what resonates with Toronto audiences.
- Persistence and creativity when booking guests and newsmakers.
- Multi-platform writing skills and confident interviewing abilities.
- Advanced audio editing proficiency.
- Solid understanding of local and national news cycles.
- Comfortable creating content for platforms like X, Facebook, and Instagram.
- Familiarity with podcasting and new media formats.
- Proactive and driven with a solutions-first mindset.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- A team-oriented attitude with a creative, energetic, and positive approach.
