Overview

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Before and After School Manager plays a vital leadership role in ensuring the smooth daily functioning of the school and the delivery of high-quality student programming outside of core instructional hours. This individual maintains a safe, nurturing, and organized environment aligned with school values, providing ongoing communications with parents. This is a hands-on, multi-functional leadership position that requires strong organizational and communication skills. Child development knowledge and experience is an asset.

The working hours are 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

Program Management & Student Experience:

  • Develop, manage, and continuously improve before- and after-school care programs that are safe, engaging, and educationally enriching.
  • Oversee the planning and delivery of extracurricular and co-curricular activities, ensuring high levels of student participation and alignment with school values.
  • Maintain appropriate staff-child ratios and ensure all programs meet health, safety, and licensing standards.
  • Support homework help, arts, recreation, and behavior management programs within extended care.

Staff Supervision and Development:

  • Hire, train, and manage extended care staff and any logistical support personnel.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching and professional development.
  • Oversee daily staffing levels to ensure appropriate coverage across all programs.

Parent & School Communication:

  • Serve as the primary contact for parents regarding before/after-school care, transportation, scheduling, and food services.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to ensure alignment between extended programming and academic goals.

Administrative & Financial Management:

  • Track student attendance, registration, and compliance for all extended programs.
  • Prepare reports for administration on participation, outcomes, and improvements.

Education/Experience/Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in school operations, child care, or educational setting.
  • 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Post secondary degree in early childhood education or a Bachelor of Education is an asset
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of child development and positive behavior management techniques.
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check.
