As the Concrete Formwork Superintendent, you will oversee concrete operations on civil infrastructure projects, ensuring all activities are performed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. This role involves direct supervision of field crews, coordination with other trades and project managers, and the ability to drive productivity while meeting deadlines and budgetary goals.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead, coordinate, and supervise all concrete formwork and placement activities on site.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
- Plan and oversee tasks including forming, pouring, finishing, and curing concrete.
- Schedule and manage labour, equipment, materials, and subcontractors effectively.
- Conduct site inspections, toolbox talks, and enforce all health and safety regulations.
- Manage and submit all project documentation including daily reports, timekeeping, quantity tracking, and production records.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to report on site progress and resolve issues.
- Mentor and train crew members, to support a high-performing, safety-conscious work environment.
- Manage changes in scope, quantities, and schedules with minimal disruption to work flow.
- Ensure job sites are clean, organized, and compliant with safety and environmental regulations.
- Resolve worksite issues that impact quality, safety, or progress, and recommend improvements to boost productivity.
- Coordinate concrete deliveries and inspect materials for compliance and quality before use.
- Ensure integration of concrete work with adjacent trades and site activities to minimize rework or delays.
- Coordinate, direct, and delegate tasks and responsibilities to employees on site to meet schedule and production goals.
- Promote and enforce workplace safety, ensuring the protection of crew, equipment, and the environment.
- Effectively communicate information relating to the progress of ongoing projects on-site to the superintendent and the management team.
To set yourself up for success in this role, you will already have:
- A minimum of 5 years experience in civil construction.
- Strong knowledge of concrete systems and forming methods.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Proven leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience coordinating large-scale crews and managing day-to-day operations.
- Familiarity with applicable OH&S regulations and safe work practices.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Willingness to work extended hours, including weekends, when required to meet project timelines.
