About the role

The Role: Director, FP&A

Our Client: is a rapidly growing telecom company delivering fibre and 5G services to rural communities in Canada.

The successful candidate will work closely with the CTO and VP of FP&A to drive strategic decision-making and financial performance across capital-intensive fibre and fixed wireless projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the embedded FP&A lead within the Network team, acting as a strategic finance partner and trusted advisor.
  • Build deep understanding of network operations, including fibre and fixed wireless capital projects.
  • Drive improved forecasting, financial reporting, and budgeting accuracy through data-driven insights.
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvements, cost savings, and productivity gains across Network Operations.
  • Track capital and operating program performance against budget and strategic objectives.
  • Deliver network-specific financial insights to the Corporate FP&A team to optimize enterprise-wide planning.
  • Provide financial analysis and support for M&A, business case development, and executive-level reporting.
  • Liaise regularly with CTO, CFO, and VP of FP&A; support Board, investor, and lender reporting as needed.
  • Contribute to financial statements and forecast models, including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in FP&A, forecasting/budgeting, and financial modelling.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the telecom industry or another capital-intensive sector (bust with a strong understanding of networks from previous experience).
  • Proven ability to partner cross-functionally and build credibility with technical and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills with experience presenting to executive leadership.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
  • Experience leading or contributing to large-scale capital programs.
  • Preferred education/designations: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Engineering; MBA, CPA, or CFA.
