Salary: $5,060 – 5,270 – 5,491 – 5,719 – 5,957/month (2024 Rates)

Schedule: 70 hours bi-weekly; Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM – 4:45 PM (Nine-Day Fortnight)

This position works in the Citizen's Support organizational unit. This is specialized volunteer program coordination in delivering a variety of city-wide volunteer based programs to support citizens’ health promotion and independent living in the community. An incumbent of this class is responsible for coordinating and monitoring the activities of a large number of volunteers, providing orientation, and organizing motivational activities. An employee of this class also liaises with internal and external committees and community partners on matters related to volunteer activities, placement and promotion; and handles a variety of administrative details related to the work. Duties are performed within established program guidelines but considerable independence of judgement and action is exercised in administering the specific programs and in acting in a liaison capacity. Work performance is reviewed by a supervisor in terms of effectiveness and quality of services provided. Performs related work as required.

Qualifications include graduation from a certificate program in volunteer management from a recognized community college, supplemented by commercial courses and sound related experience, with courses in gerontology desirable; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the rules, regulations, policies and procedures governing the work; modern office practices, procedures and record keeping, and of business English and arithmetic. Ability to establish and maintain effective liaison and contact with volunteers, clients, other internal and external contacts, and to promote public interest and support for various programs; to work with minimal supervision on delegated assignments. A valid BC Driver’s Licence - Class 5, St. John's First Aid Certificate, and CPR Certificate are required. A Police Information Check is required for this position.

This is a Temporary Full Time position until November 28, 2025.
