About the role
TDR Transportation & Logistics, a subsidiary of The Municipal Group of Companies is a transportation company providing transport services around Atlantic Canada. We are currently seeking a Dispatcher to join our team based out of our Bedford, NS office.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the supervision and management of a large staff of drivers; strong leadership skills are essential
Answer phone and digital inquiries for, pickups, customer questions and driver requests.
Suggest alternative approaches to operations with the goal of gaining efficiencies.
Prioritize time sensitive jobs amongst scheduled tasks.
Must be able to work well in a fast paced, team environment
Sales experience of trucking services and supporting our sales is a requirement for the position.
Accept responsibility and make quick decisions as required
Enforce and adhere to Company policy and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:
Logistics, Long Haul and Tanker experience would be an asset
Good understanding of Permitting/Routing oversized loads
Familiar with Transport Industry Pricing
Experience with Provincial and US regulations
Solid background in the trucking industry is preferred but not essential
Strong computer skills are considered an asset
Ability to multitask and complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner
Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work
Reliable and strong work ethic
Ability to deal with people tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
Post-Secondary education in a related field
Previous supervisory experience in a transportation environment would be considered an asset
