About the role
A career as an OTC Collateral Management Senior Analyst within the Financial Market Operations team at the National Bank of Canada, you will contribute to the effective management of OTC derivatives operations. Your Role
- Execute margin calls for OTC derivatives under ISDA collateral agreements with accuracy and in full compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Reconcile and analyze mark-to-market (MTM) discrepancies, collaborating with counterparties and internal teams to resolve differences.
- Develop and implement process improvement strategies to enhance operational workflows.
- Manage escalations related to counterparty disputes and defaults, providing actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
- Act as a liaison for internal and external audits, maintaining proper documentation and ensuring adherence to compliance standards.
- Design and apply analytical frameworks to enhance risk management and operational efficiency.
- Support the integration of new financial products and services through detailed operational and technical assessments.
Your Team
You will join a team of professionals within Financial Market Operations, reporting directly to the Director of Collateral Management and Portfolio Reconciliation. This team is recognized for its strong expertise in OTC products and its commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement.
As a key partner to various departments, including Operations, Credit, Legal, Front Office, Market Risk, Compliance, and Treasury, you will collaborate closely with stakeholders to uphold quality standards and contribute to technological and procedural advancements.

Prerequisites
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field
- 1+ years of relevant experience in derivatives operations
- Advanced knowledge of derivative instruments and risk management principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functionalities such as pivot tables, dynamic analysis, and financial modeling
- Familiarity with market regulations and compliance requirements
- Programming skills in Python, VBA, or equivalent languages are highly valued for process automation and innovation
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, fostering effective collaboration across teams
