About the Role: We are seeking a talented FEA/CFD Simulation & Design Engineer to join our growing team in Ottawa. This hybrid role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of advanced mechanical design, simulation, and real-world product development. You'll collaborate with a skilled team on high-performance solutions for rugged environments across industries such as defense, aerospace, telecom, and transportation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations for structural, thermal, and flow-related applications
- Create, iterate, and optimize 3D CAD models and assemblies using SolidWorks, Creo, or similar tools
- Contribute to mechanical product design from concept through prototyping, testing, and validation
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and clients to deliver robust design solutions
- Support qualification processes (e.g., vibration, thermal cycling, shock testing) and analyze results
- Document analysis and design work clearly and professionally, including simulation reports and design justifications
- Apply DFMA principles and participate in root cause investigations as needed
- Provide analytical support and problem-solving expertise
Qualifications:
- Education: Completed a Mechanical Engineering program or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in FEA and/or CFD simulation
- Proficiency with at least one FEA/CFD tool (e.g., Ansys, FloTHERM, SolidWorks Simulation, FEMAP)
- Strong 3D CAD modelling skills (SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent)
- Experience designing for rugged environments (e.g., defence, rail, telecom)
- Exposure to environmental testing or qualification processes
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and DFM/DFA best practices
- Understanding of heat transfer, fluid flow, stress/strain, and materials behavior
- Ability to interpret and apply engineering drawings, standards, and documentation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
