The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety (CPPS) is responsible for overseeing Saskatchewan's correctional system and facilities, providing the safe and secure custody of adult and youth offenders, and delivering programs that promote safety and reduce re-offending.

The Opportunity
The Kilburn Hall Youth Centre is accepting applications for a permanent part-time Facility Nurse.
As a Facility Nurse, you will be a confident, positive role model for youth in a highly complex, challenging work environment. The Kilburn Hall Youth Centre is a remand, secure, and open custody youth facility located in Saskatoon. You will work independently and as part of a team of health professionals who provide care to youth in a custody setting. The successful candidate will work day, evening, weekly, and weekend shifts.
We are seeking a compassionate, respectful, and empathetic individual who is eager to accept the challenges of working in a Youth Facility. You must the ability to recognize potential risks to the safety and well-being of clients, staff, and community, adaptable and able to perform effectively in a diverse and changing work environment. You will exercise good judgment to meet the needs of the client, institution, and community; and a team player to ensure the job is performed in a safe, cooperative, and effective manner.
Ideal Candidate
As our successful candidate, you will have:
- Knowledge of adolescent development and behaviour to support positive change;
- A valid First Aid and CPR/AED certificate with no less than 12 months remaining before expiration;
- The ability to verbally and in writing present clear, concise, timely, and accurate information;
- Critical thinking skills to exercise sound judgment, solve problems, and apply appropriate interventions;
- Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills;
- The ability to be a collaborative, and supportive team player;
- An inclusive, non-judgmental, and culturally responsive approach;
- The ability to be adaptable and resilient in times of change, uncertainty, and stress; and
- Proficiency with various computer systems, software, and programs.
Our candidate of choice will have the ability to provide health care to male and female/youth, including assessment and treatment strategies. You will maintain accurate patient records, actively promote preventative health measures, respond to medical/psychiatric emergencies, and assess non-emergent and urgent medical and mental health conditions. You will have the ability to interact diplomatically with youth and staff using conflict resolution, mediation, and problem-solving skills. You will initiate referrals and collaborate with community stakeholders to contribute to successful reintegration planning.
To be considered for this position, you will be actively registered (eligible for registration) with the Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of Saskatchewan (RPN) or the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (RN). You must have knowledge of general medical and psychiatric theories and related intervention strategies to target; suicide-self-harm, drug/alcohol withdrawal, public health issues/communicable diseases, and the effects of complex trauma on a youth population. You will have knowledge of multi-cultural beliefs, values, and perspectives with particular emphasis on Indigenous individuals and groups.
