- Recruitment range: $100,229- $110,529 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.
- Performance range: $130,406 salary range ceiling is available through annual performance increases.
Job Summary
Mandate:
The Senior Staff Psychologist plays a key leadership role in the University of Victoria's Psychology Clinic, a teaching clinic operated within the Department of Psychology. This position supports the Clinic’s dual mandate of providing low-barrier psychological services to the local community and offering high-quality clinical training to graduate students in the Clinical Psychology program. The position is instrumental in upholding ethical, effective, and inclusive clinical practices while contributing to the development and continual improvement of training programs and clinic operations.
Objectives:
- Provide high-quality, developmentally appropriate supervision and training to graduate students engaged in psychological assessment.
- Ensure training programs meet accreditation standards set by the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) and provincial regulatory bodies.
- Support clinic operations and strategic planning through administrative leadership and quality assurance contributions.
- Promote inclusive, socially just, and culturally responsive clinical education and service delivery.
- Collaborate with academic and community partners to strengthen service pathways and learning opportunities.
The clinic provides in-person and telehealth services and operates as a community-facing teaching facility, which may involve interaction with diverse populations and sensitive situations.
Job Requirements
This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from a CPA- or APA-accredited program, plus a minimum of three years of relevant clinical experience providing psychological assessment and intervention. The incumbent must also have at least one year of experience supervising graduate student clinicians in psychological assessment. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Demonstrated expertise in psychoeducational and diagnostic assessment for children and/or adults.
- Strong skills in clinical supervision and familiarity with best practices in graduate-level training.
- Excellent communication and strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage workflow, case assignments, and clinic systems efficiently.
- Experience with clinic administration, quality assurance, and policy development.
- Familiarity with CPA accreditation standards and provincial regulatory guidelines.
- Commitment to fostering inclusive, culturally safe, and socially just training and service environments.
- Capacity to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and ethical leadership in a clinical teaching setting.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment.
- Experience with funding proposal writing and supporting clinic evaluation and development is an asset.
