Our Maintenance team is customer focused, supporting the business 24/7 by ensuring that Loewen buildings, equipment, and tools are operating at their optimal performance. We work in a fast-paced environment, making teamwork essential to successful completion of our task and achieving a high degree of customer satisfaction. We are looking for an Industrial Mechanic to join the Maintenance department on a rotating shift at our Steinbach, MB manufacturing facility.

We are currently looking for a Red Seal Industrial Mechanic (Millwright), however if you are planning to challenge the certification with Apprenticeship Manitoba in the next 12 months or are a Level 3 or 4 Apprentice, we welcome you to apply.

In this role you will:

  • Follow all safety procedures, maintain accuracy standards and work in a team environment
  • Install, maintain, repair, troubleshoot and test machinery and specialized equipment
  • Diagnostics and repair of building and production equipment and systems
  • Keep production and maintenance partners informed, in relation to equipment status and condition
  • Adhere to Preventative Maintenance procedures and improvements
  • Read and interpret diagrams, service manuals and blueprints
  • Operate forklifts, dollies, man lifts, and other miscellaneous job equipment
  • Service and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems, perform tack welds and fabrication
  • Maintain accurate equipment records
  • Sharing knowledge and skills
  • Other related duties as required

To qualify for this role, you will be:

  • Positive work experience in current position
  • Certified or pursuing Manitoba or inter-provincial Industrial Mechanic ticket
  • Proficient in the repair, installation, and maintenance of all plant mechanical equipment
  • Ability to work at heights and bend, push, pull, and lift a minimum of 50lbs consistently
  • Ability to work as a member of a team, as well as independently
  • Strong diagnostic abilities with a variety of equipment
  • Related training in repair and maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Work in a rotating shift environment
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (English)
  • Ability to work in a time sensitive environment
  • Computer knowledge
