Job Summary:
We are looking for a Prepared Foods Manager to lead and support the Deli, Bakery, Café, and Home Meal Replacement departments in our new Surrey location. This role will not just be someone who supervises the work of others, they will help their team to proactively manage customer needs and exceeds expectations!
Prepared Foods Manager responsibilities include assisting store leadership in effectively leading, managing and developing store and/or department operations and associates to maximize sales and profitability, while preparing ready made meals and ensuring cleanliness of the work area as well as served as a sales associate when needed.
The ideal candidate is able to guide and train employees, striving to always deliver the highest standards of products, have a focus on food safety requirements, and has a proven record of delivering results.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff
- Oversees the daily workflow of the department
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversee and prepare hot and cold foods, including sandwiches, chickens, salad production, meat slicing, soups and specialty trays.
- Plan and merchandise product display cases and develop seasonal menus
- Collaborate with vendor for inventory management; submit and track product orders
- Assist customers to the appropriate aisle or shelve to assist with purchasing decisions
- Ensure the store is clean, safe and ready for shoppers
- Process cash register payments by cash, credit card, gift card, and debit
- Balance and reconcile cash at end of work shift
- Rotation, loading and unloading of product
- Stock and replace products to avoid any damages
- Backroom and inventory management
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to meet a flexible with work schedule including weekends, early morning and evenings
- Excellent interpersonal skills with staff and customers
- A proven team player and who is also team-focused
- Strong problem solving and in-the-moment decision-making skills, process improvement, strategic planning, verbal communication, customer focus, management proficiency
- Skilled at prioritizing tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
- Able to function well in a high-paced environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
Education and Experience:
- Completion of a post-secondary program related to hospitality or food and beverage service management
- A minimum of 2 years of demonstrable experience in a supervisory capacity at a retail store, or similar
- Experience operating a point-of-sale systems
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times and carry moderately heavy loads, such as stock items, supplies, or equipment
- Able to bend, stoop, and kneel to inspect merchandise, shelves, and storage areas
- Use of commercial power equipment, including slicers and oven
