About the role

Take Your Career to New Heights with Flair Airlines

We’re here to make air travel affordable for everyone, and we’re looking for talented individuals who want to help us continue changing the industry for the better. As Canada’s most reliable airline, we're all about offering real value. As we continue to expand our network, increase flight frequencies, and introduce more services, we’re looking for passionate team members to help us in our mission to make air travel accessible for everyone. We know who we are, and we’re confident in our approach—but we don’t take ourselves too seriously.

Your Team:

Join Flair’s Airport Operations team, where leadership, coordination, and operational excellence ensure a seamless airport experience. Based at Edmonton International Airport (YEG), the Airport Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing third-party service providers and ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective ground operations. This role covers both above-the-wing and below-the-wing performance, airport facilities, and customer service standards. You’ll be actively involved in day-to-day station operations, including during peak periods, irregular operations, weekends, and holidays. Reporting to the Manager, Airport Operations, you will support seven-day operational coverage and act as a key escalation point to resolve on-the-ground challenges while balancing service quality, cost control, and ancillary revenue goals.

This role is based on-site at our Edmonton (YEG) office.

A Day in the Life:

  • Safety & Training: Promote a strong safety culture and adherence to training standards. Participate in Safety Management System (SMS) processes, investigations, and corrective action plans. Ensure ground handlers meet training standards and maintain compliance
  • Ancillary Revenue Optimization: Equip station management and agents with the tools and knowledge to enhance ancillary revenue streams. Develop and communicate performance targets while identifying improvement opportunities
  • Operational Oversight: Engage in on-the-ground operations at check-in, departure gates, and ramps to ensure service provider compliance with safety, reliability, and service standards. Oversee ground service equipment (GSE) maintenance and operational performance. Conduct weekly reviews with the General Manager and service providers
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Foster strong relationships with service providers, airport authorities, security, fuel, catering, and other partners. Represent the airline at airport meetings and act as an ambassador to promote Flair’s interests
  • Policy & Procedure Compliance: Ensure the consistent application of operational policies and customer service standards
  • Travel as needed to attend meetings and visit other operations
  • Support cost management by reviewing ad-hoc operational needs and approving additional operational expenses
  • Collaborate with CTA, TC, USCBP, and other regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations
  • Manage and provide assistance during Irregular Operations (IROP)
  • Leverage company and departmental resources to equip teams with the necessary tools and knowledge to perform their duties effectively
  • Contribute to the implementation and development of business improvement initiatives as required
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

What You Bring to the Role:

The preferred candidate should exemplify Flair's core values of respect, honesty, accountability, and efficiency while demonstrating success in previous roles. Additionally, we are seeking individuals who possess:

  • Education:
    • Post-secondary education in business, aviation, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of progressive experience in airport operations, preferably within a commercial airline or ground handling environment.
    • Familiarity with Standard Ground Handling Agreements (SGHA) and IATA contracts is considered an asset.
    • Demonstrated experience working in dynamic, fast-paced environments requiring real-time decision-making and resource prioritization.
    • Previous exposure to air safety legislation, CATSA regulations, and internal or external audit program processes is strongly preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Proven leadership and change management capabilities, with a demonstrated ability to navigate complex operational challenges.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across multiple levels of the organization.
    • Solid understanding of Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) and their application in daily operations.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Word, and Teams, with the ability to manage communications and documentation efficiently.
  • Requirements:
    • Clear criminal record check and satisfactory references
    • Ability to maintain a valid Passport to accommodate work travel.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) in compliance with airport security requirements.
    • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without restriction.
