About the role

Health Association Nova Scotia is partnering with the Department of Seniors and Long-term Care to provide recruitment support to continuing care employers in Nova Scotia. There are numerous opportunities across Central Zone.

Are you a well-rounded professional, pursuing a challenging career with the chance to grow and make a real difference? There are many available positions in long term care for Licensed Practical Nurses who have a passion for working with seniors; or with home nursing, where you will provide care to people of all ages in their homes and other community settings.

In collaboration with the Registered Nurse, the LPN performs a wide variety of resident care functions within the scope of practice, code of ethics, and governing legislation. The LPN provides a leadership and supervisory role to the Continuing Care Attendant/Personal Care Worker.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting clients with various personal care activities
  • Use of lifts and slings to transfer patients with a movement disorder
  • Administration of medication
  • Nighttime monitoring and assistance
  • Light housekeeping (Laundry, washing dishes, sweeping and wiping of surfaces)
  • Basic food prep of a blenderized feed for the clients
  • Outings in the community
  • Facilitation of community inclusion activities

Core Requirements:

  • Current Licensed (or eligible for license) with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses
