The City of Abbotsford is seeking a skilled and motivated Operations Project Coordinator to join our Operations team. This dynamic and technical role involves coordinating the planning, execution, and oversight of capital and maintenance projects across a wide range of civic infrastructure, including roads, parks, trails, underground utilities, and facilities. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and renewing the City’s infrastructure assets by supporting the full lifecycle of projects from initial assessments and planning through procurement, construction, and maintenance.
Working closely with the Manager, Wastewater Collection and other stakeholders, the Coordinator will assess infrastructure conditions, maintain asset inventories, and help determine priorities for capital replacement projects. Responsibilities also include drafting project plans using CAD, preparing cost estimates and schedules, and coordinating with contractors and internal teams to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
In addition to project coordination, the role supports health and safety initiatives such as training, recordkeeping, and equipment maintenance, while also monitoring departmental expenditures and managing inventory. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, as the Coordinator will liaise with stakeholders, provide technical support, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and City standards. The position also involves supervising contractors, ensuring quality control, and resolving issues that arise during project execution. To be considered for this position, you must have:
- Completion of a diploma in Engineering Technology or equivalent related diploma
- Five years related experience in a construction environment
- Two years’ in a project coordination or project management roll
- One years’ training and/or related experience in a CAD platform.
- A valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence.
This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $39.83 to $46.87. We offer ongoing personal and professional development opportunities, competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.
