About the role

Position Overview

Calian ITCS is currently seeking a Senior Test Engineer for an Ottawa-based client to plan, conduct and document testing activities at various levels of system element complexity in accordance with the established methods and procedures. Will also be expected to provide input into various requirements engineering activities regarding the testability of proposed requirements and perform the following duties:

Responsibilities

  • Develop Test Plans, Test Procedures, and Test Cases based on system requirements and design documentation.
  • Define test scope, objectives, tools, and acceptance criteria for complex systems involving video, voice, data, and sensor integrations.
  • Contribute to verification and validation strategies across the LCSS architecture, considering both mobile and headquarters deployments.
  • Work closely across numerous teams to assist end users with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues of various kinds.
  • Work closely with customers to define project scope and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Develop integration and test plans and procedures for LCSS projects, building and validating test environments to ensure the system meets the highest standards.
  • Participate in integrated team activities within Systems Engineering, Development and System Integration.
  • Utilize test equipment and tools to verify communication protocols, data flow, and interoperability between subsystems.
  • Operate and test within lab-based simulations and field environments, emulating real-world operational conditions.
  • Record test results, anomalies, and deviations in structured test reports and logs.

Qualifications

  • Clearance: Secret (mandatory) & Controlled Goods Certification (must be Canadian Citizen to be eligible)
  • Language: English

Must have experience doing development work, including experience in any of the following areas:

  • Verifying and validating management information systems (MIS)
  • Performing software testing for computer-based simulation systems or other complex software systems or;
  • Planning, engineering and conducting software testing for real-time systems

Requires a combination of education and experience in many of the fields below:

  • Rational Unified Process (RUP) for Software Development;
  • Agile Methods for Software Development;
  • Software Verification, including as appropriate, inspection, analysis, demonstration and testing of software system elements;
  • Software Validation, including fitness for purpose and user acceptance testing;
  • Software Quality Assurance
  • Software Inspection and Analysis Standards, Methods and Technologies, including both manual techniques and the use of automated code analyzers;
  • Software Testing Standards, Methods and Technologies, including those applicable to various types and aspects of black-box testing, white-box testing and automated testing; and
  • Software Quality Standards, Methods and Technologies
