Specifications Writer

Our in-house design departments include Architecture, Interior Design and Experiential Graphic Design. In addition, we have a Digital Practice Department, who commits to the implementation of BIM, research + development, and the infusion of cutting-edge technology into our projects and practice.
Who We Are Looking For
As a Specification Writer, you leverage technical expertise to provide support in creating technical specifications for projects. Your foundational knowledge in construction documentation, understanding of CCDC contracts, construction methodologies, building materials, industry standards, and regulations is essential. This position presents an opportunity to further develop your specification writing skills and knowledge, thereby improving your capacity to make impactful contributions towards the successful execution of projects.
What You Will Do:
- Ensure compliance with comprehensive technical specifications, aligning with industry standards and project’s design intent.
- Assist in the continuous maintenance, and updating of office-wide and client specific Master Specifications to ensure they are current, compliant with industry standards and regulations, and reflective of the latest best practices and technological advancements.
- Leverage the use of VisiSpecs to enhance digital specification processes.
- Conduct detailed research and selection of materials to meet project requirements, focusing on sustainability and cost-effectiveness.
- Review and analyze submittals, including shop drawings and product data.
- Respond to Requests for Information (RFIs) and collaborate with stakeholders to resolve queries promptly and accurately, ensuring alignment with project specifications and timelines.
What You Will Bring:
- A Degree or Diploma from an accredited institution in Architecture.
- A current member of Construction Specifications Canada (CSC).
- 1 - 3 years of progressively responsible roles as a Specification Writer within architecture firms.
- Strong understanding of current building codes, building construction and details.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
- Proficiency with SpecSimple, VisiSpecs, BlueBeam or Revit is considered an asset.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and effective problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a hybrid role, with 2 days in the Studio.
