JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Financial Controller to oversee all financial operations of Ell-Rod Holdings Inc., ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic financial management. Reporting to the Managing Directors, this role will play a critical part in supporting the company’s growth by managing financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, proactive leader with strong analytical skills and experience in manufacturing and construction industries.

OFFICE HOURS: 5 days a week Monday - Friday 7am-3:30pm

LOCATION: Orono, Ontario

YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Develop and manage annual budgets, financial forecasts, and cash flow projections to support strategic decision-making.
  • Cost Management: Analyze project pricing, costs & margins, monitor job profitability, establish operational KPIs & metrics and provide insights to optimize operational efficiency in millwork production and installation.
  • Internal Controls: Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Audit & Compliance: Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards.
  • Cash Flow Management: Oversee cash flow planning, supply chain & procurement, accounts payable/receivable, and banking relationships to ensure liquidity and financial stability.
  • Tax & Compliance: Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure compliance with Canadian tax laws and regulations.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Support: Collaborate with senior management to provide financial insights for business expansion, capital investments, and operational strategies.
  • Project Support: Deep involvement in business operations, work closely with sales, production and project managers to track financial performance of large-scale millwork projects, ensuring alignment with budgets and timelines.
  • ERP Systems Expertise : Continuous process improvement and ERP implementation.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY OPERATE IN THE ROLE EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA designation required.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive financial management experience, with at least 5-6 years in a controller or similar role, preferably in manufacturing, construction, or millwork industries.

SKILLS / COMPETENCIES REQUIRED TO SUCCESSFULLY EXECUTE THE ABOVE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial software (e.g., Jonas, INNERGY) and advanced Excel skills; experience with project costing and job cost accounting is an asset.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Leadership: Proven experience leading and developing finance teams, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the manufacturing and construction sector, including project-based financial management, is highly desirable.
  • Compliance: In-depth knowledge of Canadian GAAP, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
