Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a Roller Truck Operator (Class 1 Driver) to join our team at Kamloops Truss Ltd. In this role, you will be responsible for operating a 1-ton dually pickup truck with a gooseneck tilt deck trailer to deliver truss, timber, and floor packages to job sites throughout our service areas. You will also support the logistics and yard teams by assisting with the mechanical upkeep and basic maintenance of trucks and trailers, as well as occasional yard or shop tasks. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, a customer-focused attitude, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Physical capability: Lift heavy loads up to 50 lbs. and navigate job site terrain in all weather conditions.

Customer service orientation: Provide excellent customer service during deliveries and interactions with clients.

· Adaptability: Willingness to work in various weather conditions and assist in different roles within the company as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate a 1-ton dually pickup truck with a gooseneck tilt deck trailer in accordance with CVSE, DOT, and WorkSafeBC regulations.
  • Execute timely and professional delivery of truss, timber, and floor packages to customer sites in the Thompson Okanagan, South Okanagan, Cariboo, and the Kootenays.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections; complete all required maintenance and safety checklists.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, organization, and mechanical readiness of assigned vehicles, trailers, and related workspaces.
  • Support ongoing vehicle and equipment maintenance, identifying mechanical issues, assisting with minor repairs, and communicating needs to the maintenance team.
  • Operate other delivery vehicles such as the shop truck and assist in the yard as assigned.
  • Ensure all lockout/tagout and isolation procedures are followed when performing or assisting with maintenance or repairs.
  • Operate equipment and perform duties only when appropriately trained and authorized; maintain up-to-date documentation and certifications.
  • Collaborate with yard and logistics teams to support operational efficiency during off-peak periods or when assigned to alternative tasks.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Valid Class 1 Driver’s License with clean “N” Driver’s Abstract (submitted semi-annually).
  • Proven experience operating a 1-ton dually pickup with a gooseneck tilt deck trailer.
  • Completion of Kamloops Truss online safety orientation and quiz.
  • Sound understanding of safe work practices and transportation regulations.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to assist with preventative maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Experience working in logistics, shipping, or yard environments.

Schedule: Monday to Friday – Times vary depending on loads
