Responsibilities PRIMARY PURPOSE

Supports the Manager in overseeing daily operations across the central store and 11 satellite locations, supervising a team of over 80 staff members while directing and mentoring team leaders, promoting process documentation, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Monitors daily labor requirements to ensure all stores are adequately staffed, acts as the primary liaison with garage managers to meet operational expectations, and leads efforts to enhance team morale. Collaborates closely with the manager to manage departmental expenses and contributes actively to the budgeting process with a focus on optimizing resource allocation. Plays a key role in developing, tracking, and communicating KPIs to align team efforts with departmental goals, analyzes parts requirements for various projects including campaigns, and works with Procurement when needed. Participates in the hiring process for roles such as supervisors, parts personnel, drivers, FMA, and service staff, while also coaching and developing team members to support performance and growth. Ensures a safe, compliant work environment by enforcing strict adherence to safety protocols.

Key Accountabilities Oversees daily operations across the central store and 11 satellite stores, ensuring labor requirements are met, parts availability is maintained, and BD5 parts needs are addressed effectively.

Investigates inventory discrepancies, identifies root causes, and implements corrective actions to optimize processes and prevent recurrence.

Manages timely execution of order picking, receiving, billing, and shipping functions to maintain smooth operations.

Maintains regular communication with team members, documents operational needs, and escalates concerns to the manager as necessary.

Contributes to building a high-performing team by developing and executing strategies, offering insights to the budgeting process, and approving operational expenses.

Actively participates in recruitment by taking part in interviews and hiring decisions to attract qualified candidates.

Leads onboarding and training for new hires, coordinates ongoing development initiatives, and arranges retraining for existing staff to support continuous improvement.

Monitors and evaluates departmental KPIs, initiating corrective actions when required to maintain consistent performance.

Focuses on enhancing KPIs such as on-time delivery, pick accuracy, stock availability, and receiving discrepancies, while assisting in the development of new KPIs to drive further improvements.

Promotes a respectful and positive workplace culture by engaging with colleagues, understanding their operational needs, and providing support and training to help them succeed.

Supports the manager in developing new procedures, ensures their effective implementation, gathers feedback, and monitors the impact of changes.

Addresses daily operational challenges with creative solutions, documenting issues and their resolutions to refine processes and enhance overall efficiency.

Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The requirements for this job are acquired through a completion of a certification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Parts Trades, or an Engineering degree/diploma, accompanied by 9 years of experience leading medium to large teams. Alternatively, possesses 15 years of proven leadership and management success, supported by completion of Leadership/Management certifications or courses.

Other Requirements Demonstrates exceptional problem-solving skills with a thorough understanding of financial transactions and inventory movements from receipt to sales.

Proficient in inventory reconciliation and skilled at investigating and resolving discrepancies.

Strong decision-maker with sound judgment in addressing critical financial issues, optimizing shift structures, and resolving key operational challenges.

Proven track record of operational excellence and effective team leadership, with experience in the heavy-duty automotive industry considered an asset.

Brings extensive experience managing teams of 20+ staff, ideally within unionized environments.

Well-versed in navigating union contracts and grievance processes, balancing workforce needs while maintaining high morale and engagement.

Possesses a strong grasp of overseeing multiple departmental functions, with a demonstrated ability to influence, support, and guide teams for peak performance.

Experienced in leading successful change management initiatives and optimizing processes in unionized settings, leading to increased efficiency, productivity, and employee satisfaction.

Highly skilled in conflict resolution, proactively addressing issues to foster a positive and high-performing work environment.

Work Schedule 37.5 hours per week.

Rate of Pay The salary for this position ranges from $89,600 - $134,400 per annum. Actual salary offered will be based on education, experience, skills, and qualifications as they relate to the role.
