The Admiral Hotel, located in the heart of Mobile, is seeking to hire an experienced and reliable full-time Maintenance Technician II to join our Maintenance department! Who We Are Looking For POSITION SUMMARY: The Hotel’s Maintenance Technician II undertakes the responsibility of preserving the building’s overall operational condition and functionality. A Maintenance Technician II is a thorough professional with a practical approach and attention to detail that can work autonomously and responsibly; all to maintain the building and common areas in the best possible condition; all while observing all health and safety guidelines to protect our owners, our assets, and staff, and our guests.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Main Duties And Responsibilities
- Complete requests from Chief Engineer, department heads, supervisors, or MOD
- Survey building and repair mechanical systems to ensure they are consistent with health and safety standards
- Perform maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs, change batteries in door locks, replace electrical fixtures, etc)
- Perform maintenance of plumbing systems to ensure functionality (replace faucets, drains, hoses ,toilets etc)
- Perform HVAC troubleshooting and repair and installations
- Perform manual repairs when necessary (repair/replace door locks, replace window fixtures/windows, etc)
- Conduct ongoing room preventative maintenance program as directed
- Resolve maintenance problems, complaints, and work orders
- Conduct general upkeep procedures as directed (i.e. landscaping, caulking, painting, etc)
- Working knowledge of carpentry and painting as well as drywall and carpet repair work
- Inspect property to identify potential and current needs
- Perform other tasks as assigned by Chief Engineer
- Work with Housekeeping to ensure all equipment within the guest rooms are functioning properly
- Adhere and follow all company Standard of Conduct policies and procedures
- Follow the company’s employee handbook for rules and regulations

Experience Three (3) years of related experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the above skills, knowledge, or abilities.
Skills
- General understanding of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
- General knowledge of maintenance processes and methods
- Working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and devices
- Good problem solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Significant attention to detail
- Perform maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs and sockets; clean and repair circuit breaker panels, etc.)
Working Conditions Equipment to Be Used:
- Computer/cell phone/radio communication devices
- General maintenance hand tools
- General maintenance power tools (drill, electric saws, etc)
- General plumbing tools (solvents, PVC, plungers)
- Pool equipment and chemicals
Physical & Mental Requirements
- Must be able to lift and carry 75lbs
- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, on foot for 8 hours at a time
- Must be able to climb ladders to complete overhead tasks
- Must be able to stoop, crouch, and kneel to address floor level tasks (drains, baseboards, etc)
- Must be able to troubleshoot issues and react to guest in a friendly and professional manner
- Must be able to take direction and instruction from supervisors and managers
- Must be able to read, write, and interpret instruction manuals for equipment and procedure
Work Environment
- Must be able to work in hot, humid climate indoors and outdoors up to 100+ degrees
- Must be able to work in a cold environment indoors and outdoors at 32 degrees or less
- Potential exposure to chemicals, electrical shock, heights, moving mechanical parts, etc
- Potential exposure to noisy and loud environment, flashing lights, emergency scenarios related to fire and weather conditions
