About the role

Fleet Services Attendant, WEGO Bus Garage

Under the general supervision of the Lead Hand, WEGO Garage, and within established policies, procedures and guidelines; assists with participating in the cleaning and fueling of the WEGO buses. Ensures WEGO buses and NPC Fleet vehicles are clean and available for use as schedules dictate. To provide operational support to technicians when required and directed by Fleet Supervisor or designate.

Niagara Parks offers an hourly rate of $26.12 to $32.12 per hour as well as a comprehensive benefit and defined benefit pension plan.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience.
  • Valid Class “G” Driver’s License.
  • Valid Class “CZ” Driver’s License considered to be an asset.
  • Working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Knowledge of automotive equipment, including fuels, lubricants, cleaning solutions/agents, and standard tools and equipment commonly used in the repair and maintenance of heavy, medium and light duty vehicles.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, planning and organizational skills, interpersonal/communication skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to carry out manual tasks and work independently
  • Ability to order and coordinate the delivery of automotive related fuel, lubricants and cleaning supplies.
  • Willingness and ability to work variable work schedules.
  • Experience in working in a garage or workshop environment.

KEY ACTIVITIES

Under the leadership of the Lead Hand, WEGO Bus Garage assists with a variety of duties

  • In coordination with the Lead Hand, WEGO Bus Garage, assists with the coordination of the work activities of seasonal employees.
  • Ensures all relevant Health & Safety procedures are communicated to staff and are adhered to.
  • Logs job duties and daily tasks as required (e.g. fuel, cleaning schedules task sheets, timesheets).
  • Ensures fleet vehicles are cleaned including vacuuming, cleaning seats, ceilings, windows, dashboards, doors, mirrors, steps, etc. and are ready for specified departures.
  • Provides routine daily, weekly, monthly cleaning services to a wide variety of NPC fleet vehicles/equipment including incline railway cars, parking booths and other related off-site departmental areas as directed/scheduled.
  • Provides shoveling snow and operating snow blower around the WEGO Garage facility).
  • Communicates corrective and preventive actions to Lead Hand, WEGO Bus Garage promptly as it pertains to operational systems and/or safety concerns.
  • Works effectively and efficiently with other staff members to ensure job responsibilities are completed in a timely fashion to achieve WEGO schedules.
  • Assists coworkers (e.g. Mechanics) in day-to-day operations, including parts pick up when necessary and picking up and delivery of vehicles for service and/or cleaning.
  • Drives buses and fleet vehicles/equipment to fueling stations and or wash bays to fuel and return to wash areas.
  • Applies practices, procedures and policies to assure quality, environmental, and safety standards are met.
  • Liaises with Niagara Parks staff Supervisors to schedule cleaning of fleet vehicles/equipment and fuel with when necessary.

Performs other related duties

  • Willing to work overtime on short notice and to perform shift work necessary to fulfill the requirements of a seven-day operation.
  • As assigned.
