Position Summary

The Division’s Communications department provides a range of services, including media relations, corporate communications, online strategy, graphic design and event planning. Working with us is never boring—we manage projects and issues that are exciting, challenging and always evolving. We’re proud of the fact that we help support staff and students in schools, the administration and the Board of Trustees. But we are most excited to know that our work is strengthening public education and serving students, families and communities throughout Edmonton.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Communications, you will be responsible for:

  • writing and editing a wide variety of communication materials, including online content and internal and external publications

  • providing advice on effective communications strategies, tools, tactics, approaches and best practices

  • overseeing communications and marketing projects from start to finish, and evaluating their effectiveness

  • providing communication counsel and support to Division schools

  • supporting media relations, as needed, including responding to media inquiries, coordinating media interviews, and writing and editing news releases and key messages

Education/Qualifications

  • a degree in communications public relations, journalism or a related field

  • a minimum of three years of related experience with a strong focus on communications planning, writing and editing

  • knowledge of and experience in media relations and social media

  • a communicator at heart who thrives in a communications shop

  • well-versed in working with a broad range of communications tools and tactics

  • membership in the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) or Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) will be considered an asset

Rate of Pay

$42.14 - $53.81 per hour
