About the workplace

As a Consultant, Accountability Reporting at Vancity, you will play a key role in advancing our commitment to organizational transparency by participating in the preparation of our integrated Annual Report and other reporting initiatives. You'll collect, analyze, and troubleshoot sustainability data and narrative information and produce clear, accurate, and insightful reporting.

This 12 to 18 month contract role will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. Periodically, you’ll be required to attend in-person activities or events.

A typical day would involve:

  • Collect, analyze, troubleshoot and report ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) information.
  • Manage data collection system and give support to data providers.
  • Write and edit internal and external reporting to meet established reporting standards.
  • Project-manage the production of the integrated annual reporting suite, collaborating with internal and external partners. Facilitate external assurance activities to optimize audit procedures.
  • Research and monitor developments in reporting standards and make recommendations regarding best practices so that Vancity continues to be recognized as a best-in-class example of organizational transparency and sustainability reporting.

You have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Business, Finance, Accounting, Sustainability, Public Policy, or Economics.
  • Experience with sustainability reporting frameworks/standards (e.g., GRI, SASB, TCFD).
  • Demonstrated experience in report writing, particularly annual or external organizational reports, with a focus on accuracy and alignment with reporting frameworks or standards.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to collect, validate, interpret, and present data effectively.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead and coordinate multi-stakeholder initiatives such as year-end reporting and assurance processes.
  • Detail-oriented with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities in data and reporting contexts.
  • Familiarity with ESG data collection and management platforms.
  • Knowledge of external assurance or audit processes, particularly those related to non-financial or ESG reporting.

  • Able to work independently and self-starter - You support assigned portfolios and follow through on assignments with minimal direction
  • Consultative - You have a demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders in order to conduct diagnosis, analyze findings and generate appropriate options, all while securing their commitment to these solutions.
  • Adaptable
    • You are receptive to feedback and use it as a tool for growth. You remain solution-focused when faced with ambiguity or change, and actively contribute to evolving processes, practices, and ways of thinking.

The salary range for this role is $71,500  to $107,300  annually. Base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
