Position Overview

We are looking to add an Intermediate Drafting Technologist to our Edmonton team. At Challenger, you will work on surveying, mapping and geomatics projects including creating legal and municipal plans using CAD software. The position is based out of our Sherwood Park office on a hybrid remote/office schedule.

The successful candidate will work on a variety of drafting assignments supporting clients in the construction, energy, mining and government sectors. The Drafting Technologist must have the ability to interpret field returns and process data. This position will also occasionally require you to liaise with clients to establish job requirements and manage change requests.

Responsibilities:

  • Drafting support for topographic surveys, construction and legal surveys
  • Performs quality assurance and control of survey data returns.
  • Participates in the management of survey files so that the information is easily retrievable by data users.
  • Develops and implements new standard templates for drawings as required by regulatory institutions and clients.
  • Performs quality control for other CAD staff and on your own deliverables.

Skills:

  • Experience with Civil 3D Surface and volume calculations is considered an asset.
  • Experience with MicroSurvey and AutoCAD.
  • Experience drafting legal surveys an asset.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Geomatics Technology Diploma / Civil Engineering Technology (CET) Diploma / Engineering Design and Drafting Diploma
  • Equivalent experience with survey drafting and civil volumetric drafting.
