The P&H Grain Division is a comprehensive grain and crop input network, operating across approximately 45 locations in the prairie provinces, Ontario and Quebec. Our strategically positioned facilities, including grain elevators, rail sidings, inland terminals, and specialized export terminals, ensure that we effectively match producer grain with the needs of both domestic and export end users. Your Role

As Junior Accountant, you will be responsible for providing general accounting support to the Crop Inputs Accounting department.

Day to Day

  • Prepare journal entries for month-end and year-end activities.
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations as part of the month-end process
  • Prepare and run reports in various systems to support business activities
  • Communicate with country locations to resolve accounting discrepancies, related to inventory, purchasing, etc.
  • Process inventory adjustments as requested
  • Coordinate, analyze, and process annual inventory counts/fertilizer weigh-overs
  • Perform inventory costing analysis (LCM) periodically
  • Reconcile accounts payable supplier accounts
  • Provide backup and support for Crop Inputs Accounts Payable Clerk(s)
  • Assist auditors by providing requested information as part of the annual audit
  • Assist management on projects for continuous improvement including developing policies and procedures for crop input activities

Required Qualifications

  • Accounting designation or working toward a CPA designation or relevant experience
  • Minimum 1 year experience in an accounting role with strong knowledge of accounting fundamentals
  • Proficient user of Microsoft 365 Application Suite particularly Excel and Access, along with the ability to adapt and learn various software systems
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment, locally and remotely
  • Analytical skills with the ability to problem solve.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the agriculture industry and/or crop inputs specific.
  • Experience with Agrosoft and Dynamics 365 Business Central softwares
