Position Summary: This role will support the Paediatric Inpatient Units – specifically Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Inpatient Paediatrics, and any infant needs for Mother-Baby Unit or Birthing Suites at Trillium Health Partners.

Educational Requirements:

  • Registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) required.
  • Membership in O.S.O.T. and C.A.O.T. preferred
  • Neurodevelopmental Treatment (NDT) for Infants training is an asset
  • Supporting Oral Feeding in Fragile Infants (SOFFI) training is an asset
  • Neonatal Touch & Massage Certification is an asset

Key Qualifications:

  • Experience and comfort with neonate/infant handling, neurodevelopmental assessment and intervention techniques
  • Understanding and application of neonate/infant feeding assessment and strategies for intervention
  • Providing clear and concise parent education to carry through feeding and developmental recommendations while in the NICU as well as after discharge
  • Effective collaboration within an inter-professional model
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to effectively interact with clients, families, and external stakeholders
  • Skilled in prioritization of caseload and referrals based on client needs
  • Ability to be flexible and willingness to provide a variety of tasks as required for the smooth functioning of the program
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adapts to unexpected situations or changing conditions, in a time efficient manner
  • Must possess excellent organizational, time management, critical thinking, and clinical reasoning skills
  • Must strive to provide high-level quality service despite the demands of all areas of pediatric inpatients, while still maintaining accurate documentation
  • Contributes to the overall vision/mandate of the program
  • Supervision of students annually
